Odd One Out is a visual discrimination and processing speed task designed to assess participants’ ability to detect subtle differences among visual stimuli. On each trial, a 2x3 grid of six images is displayed, with one image differing from the other images. Participants must identify the image that does not match the rest. Each trial is timed, with a 20-second limit to respond. After each selection, participants receive immediate feedback indicating if their response was correct or incorrect. Participants earn one point for each correct response, while no points are awarded for incorrect or missed answers. The task ends automatically once all trials in the session are completed.
This test has been used and validated in a general adult sample and serious mental illness.
